About

Presenting has been my dream since I was five years old when my Dad filmed me talking about the pigeons in my local park.

Going LiveIn the 1980's I watched 'Going Live' which was the BBC Saturday morning kids show. It inspired me to want to work in television as it looked like everyone was having such a laugh behind the scenes. My love of broadcasting had begun.

In the 1990's I got my first break when I spent a year working on a live music show at MTV Europe as a researcher. I went on to work at the BBC for nine years in television production. I starting off in my dream job as a studio researcher on the Children's BBC Saturday morning live show 'Live & Kicking'. I later became a Producer/Director on factual entertainment shows including 'What not to Wear' with Trinny and Susannah. I filmed interviews with Hollywood A Listers for the movie star biography 'Hollywood Greats' and I lived in Australia for 6 months filming the BBC Three documentary 'Sex Warts and All Down Under'.

In 2008 I left the BBC to focus on my true passion – presenting. Within weeks I won the chance to appear on T4 on Channel 4 in a presenting competition. I made it to the final 10 contestants and wore a wedding dress in a super hero challenge! Later that year I was watched on live television by over a million people on UK Channel ITV2 when I became a regular contributor on 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here Live'. I was also asked to be a reporter for the live International 'Dance for Life' Aids education event which linked 55,000 young people in a live International broadcast to 19 countries.

Going LiveIn 2009 The Royal Television Society named me a 'Presenter in the Making' finalist voted by a panel of Channel 4 commissioners and presenters.

In 2010 I set up Joel Productions. My first commission was 'The Joel Kafetz Show' – which in a matter of months has become iTunes' Number 1 rated lesbian and gay podcast in the world. As a result of the success of 'The Joel Kafetz Show' I was asked to be the official Pride London 2010 television reporter. The event was attended by over 1 million people. I was also a judge on Drag Idol 2010 – the UK-wide drag competition.

The cast of HairIn 2010 I was lucky enough to interview Jarvis Cocker, Rachel Tucker from 'Wicked', Boris Johnson (Mayor of London), the broadway cast of 'Hair', Jarvis Cocker, actress Helen Lederer, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, Susie Orbach, Sue Perkins, Joan Amaechi and Heather Peace, Ruta Gedmintas and Fiona Button from the BBC Three lesbian drama 'Lip Service'.

Thirty years after my Dad filmed me talking about pigeons in the park my dream of becoming a presenter has come true but I am not done yet by a long way... I want to entertain as many people as possible while sending out positive messages about being gay.

Watch out world – here I come!
